Hull History Centre

'Hi-tech but welcoming', the new History Centre, opened in Hull on 25th January. Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull, Councillor Karen Woods added: 'We hope it will encourage people who haven't used the archives before to come inside, browse and even make some discoveries of their own'.

The new centre will be home to the archives of Hull City Council and the University of Hull, and has been largely funded by a £7.7 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The total project cost £9.83 million

A new centre, such as this is welcome news, at a time when many archives are being forced to look at cutbacks.
